VOCALISTS: New courses just for you!

Hello NYSMFers! It's only five more weeks until the opening of the greatest summer music camp on earth. And we're still working to make it better! Our prestigious voice faculty member, Dr. Lori McCann of NYU, has added the following courses for our serious vocalists this summer. (And shame on any of you who think the voice isn't an instrument -- it's the most important one we've got!)
  • Fundamentals of Singing
A technique class for beginners with emphasis on breathing, phonation, resonance, articulation and how to learn a song. (primarily for vocalists ages 10-14)
  • Song Analysis and Performance
Continues with these skills and will focus on analyzing the texts and interpretive elements of the songs, with work on foreign language transcription and pronunciation (IPA-International Phonetic Alphabet), translation, how to research your songs and poems and apply everything to performance. This would be primarily for ages 15 and up. Chamber pieces may be incorporated into this class for the advanced students.

The ages of students for both sections are flexible.
