NYSMF INTERNATIONAL FLUTE INSTITUTE

NYSMF is proud to present its first International Flute Institute, to be held during the third session (July 22-Aug 4) of the New York Summer Music Festival (NYSMF).

Details are still being finalized, but I can release the following exciting information about the instructors for the NYSMF IFI. And as the name implies, they will be coming from all over the world -- including from Cooperstown! :D

There is even a page about the NYSMF IFI already up on a Korean music website - http://www.flutehouse.com! (If anyone can read Korean, please have a visit and let me know what it says!)
  1. Michel Rousseau of the Paris Conservatoire of 10 and the Asnieres Ecole de Musique will be travelling all the way from Paris, France to join the NYSMF faculty.
  2. Linda Chesis of the Manhattan School of Music, and the founder of the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival, will also be joining the NYSMF IFI.
  3. Yoon Young Lee and Yui Kyung Park, both wonderful teachers from Korea, will also join us and make the whole thing even more "international"!
  4. NYSMF Faculty member Bonnie Kim (of Korea, Japan, Paris, New York City, and Virginia) will serve as coordinator for the IFI.
Clearly, the performance level will be astronomically high for the NYSMF IFI. There are already a large number of students signed up specifically for this program within our NYSMF program, and they will be working intensely in master classes, chamber music, private lessons, and who knows, perhaps even some sort of IFI-only triathalons and cooking contests will be happening. (I *did* say that the details are still being worked out, right?)

More details will be forthcoming as they are hammered out. Be prepared for a wildly exciting summer!
